What's it gonna cost?

Our oil field industry here on American soil is shutting down. Slowly the cost of a barrel of oil is rising. Gas prices are making their way back up to $2 a gallon if not more. Why??? Greed... but this time, you can't blame it on our Oil Companies, this time its really not their fault. Not 6 months ago, you could drive through areas and every which way you turned your head you were likely to see an oil rig drilling. Now... you see nothing, the drilling rigs are shut down. The companies are on a hiring freeze. The employees, on unemployment benefits. Scrounging to make ends meet and provide for their families. Desperately searching for a new job opening that just doesn't exist. What happened to creating more jobs? Instead thousands, millions are being destroyed. Our oil companies drill for more than just oil to supply fuel for your vehicles. They drill for natural gas. A gas that in the dead of winter heats your homes. But does anyone care? I guess with summer coming on its not an issue any more.

Am I against going green? NO. Am I against solar power? NO. But can we make these kind of changes over night? I think not. It will take time, time that should not be costing people their jobs in the now. Why force an issue that can not be rushed?

By shutting down our oil industries here in the U.S. we are once again turning to the support of foreign countries to provide for us. We're paying them for things that our workers here in the United States could be providing us with and in the meantime they would be able to keep their jobs and their security.

Were we solely depending on our oil industry here in the U.S.? No. But the help of our oil industry was knocking costs back down. They were helping our economy to thrive just a little more than we had been.

Should you costs thousands of people their job security just because you have a fight to pick, just because you want to show someone that you have the power to shut them down? NO. Is this what is going on? I think it has a lot to do with it.

How are we as Americans supposed to get through this recession. How are we supposed to get through these hard times when every time things start to look up for the economy, we're pushed back down. Faces in the mud.

Scarlett's Sick..Again

Earlier this month Scarlett came down with strep throat and some bad congestion. We finally got her over that and she was doing good. Then yesterday morning she wakes up and doesn't want to play, just lay there and snuggle. So I check her temp and sure enough she has a fever. She gets a dose of tylenol, feels better, plays, we even go outside. Another dose of Tylenol in the evening. Her fevers still going so I gave her a dose of Motrin at bedtime. At 3:30 am she wakes up with a fever of 104! HOLY COW! So I immediately give her Tylenol. Take her shirt off of her and wipe her down with a cool rag. I felt bad for her because when you have a fever you actually feel cold. So I let her cover up with a sheet and I kept a cool rag on her forehead. I got her fever down to 101.7. This morning we made a trip to the pedi's office. Thankfully the strep has not come back. But she has some congestions and its made its way into her chest this time. Bad news, its just a virus so there's no medicine that they can give her to help her get better. All we can do is keep alternating Tylenol and Motrin to keep the fever down. Dr. Black said her fever should break by Wednesday. If not, we're to call back and make another appointment. I really hope my baby girl gets over this quickly. I hate seeing her sick. So today we're not doing much. We're just going to lay around the house and snuggle and hopefully she'll be feeling better before we know, and get her appetite back!

Baby Kicks!

I am so excited. Our lil guy is starting to kick more and more. It started out as just feeling tiny bumps here and there but I am actually feeling several kicks at a time now, all through out the day!!!! Oh and he loves to pick on mommy. As soon as I go to the bathroom and then find a place to relax he literally will start dancing on my bladder and so its off to the bathroom again. I can't wait until Rassie can feel him kicking around in there. But lil man's movements are not that strong yet. Rassie does try his hardest to feel though. He will even lay his head on my stomach because he thinks he's going to 'hear' something..ha ha. I remember him doing the same thing when we were pregnant with Scarlett. He's such an involved Daddy!

So our baby name search is becoming harder and harder. We were really set on the name Braeden Rassie but now we know someone who had a December baby and used that name. Last night we picked the name Collin Rassie which I really, really like. Rassie even agreed that it was a great name and then 20 minutes later decided he didn't know if he liked it so we're back to square one! I guess for now we'll just call him our 'lil man' 'baby boy martin' or 'turtle' ...I know, you're thinking 'wth? why turtle' Well on the ultra sound there was a shot of his head they were trying to get and it looked like a little turtle on the screen, so thats why.

Changing subjects slightly, I think Scarlett is really going to love her baby brother. She is so infatuated by infants. She has a baby cousin and she is so sweet and gentle to him. She starts saying. "bay....bay" (baby) over and over and then patting him gently on the feet. It's the cutest thing ever. She also likes getting to help feed him his bottle. I am really excited she likes babies and knows that she has to be careful with them. She's going to be a great little helper and the best big sister ever!

Sissy's Song

Some of you may be wondering why I chose to put this song on my profile. The first time I heard it, I thought it was one of the most beautiful songs ever. All I could think about was my Granny who I lost 7 1/2 years ago. I know thats a long time but she was a very inspirational woman whom I loved with all my heart. So many things remind me of her and that brings me joy. So I love playing this song and seeing all the beautiful things that I know she would have loved that remind me of her and the good old days. I was also thing of a doing a dvd in memory of her for Mother's Day and playing this song as one of the songs in the video. It is something I know MY mom and her sisters would love to have. Now if only I could sneak my moms photo albums so I could get plenty of pics for the video I would be all set.

New To This

Hi! I am new to this whole blogging thing. I usually just make updates on myspace or facebook but I thought I would give blogspot a try. My name is Amber. I am married to love of my life, Rassie. We will be married 3 years in May 2009. We have a beautiful little Princess, Scarlett. She is 14 months old. We are expecting a beautiful baby boy on August 6th, 2009. His name is still up in the air but we are thinking of Braeden Rassie. For the most part, we enjoy spending time as a family here at home. But we do like to make outings to see other family and friends, to the park and to places like the lake. I enjoy being outside. Something about the warm sunshine on my skin just makes me calm, relaxed and happy. I guess my baby girl inherited that too because she absolutely loves to be outside! She cries when its time to come in. My husband and I have a wonderful relationship, he even helps do the DISHES (sometimes)! How awesome is that??? Anywas, I'm going to go ahead and end this for now before I keep rambling.
