Had a Baby Scare!

Yesterday, 5/30, I had a scare with baby Ian. I woke up, went to the bathroom as usual. Got Scarlett up, changed her, got her some milk and breakfast, had the urge to pee again so went to the bathroom, again! There was blood! Bright red blood! So not a good sign. I called mom and started crying. Woke Rassie up. He got the number for L&D while I got dressed, just in case. I got a super nice nurse on the phone. She seemed genuinely concerned. I hadn't had a vaginal exam, sex or done anything strenous. Basically rolled out of bed and 20 minutes later there was blood. She was cool and calm though. Said it was probably a blood vessel that burst. To put on a pad and watch it. Don't pick up Scarlett, eat a big breakfast and drink tons of water, lay down and rest. I took her advice. She called to check on me about an hour and half later. The bright red blood was gone and there was just some bright pink spotting now. Good sign. It meant it ws going away. She said to keep doing what I was doing and give them a call back in a few hours to let them know how everything was. The pink spotting turned to brown which was a very good sign and now meant the blood was old. I called L&D back to let them know. There had been a shift change and this time I got a rude nurse. She told me there was no point in calling back to update if it had turned brown. I asked if I should let my dr. know on Monday and she said NO! Well, I do plan on giving the dr. a call on Monday and letting her know about the bleeding this weekend, even though it wasn't alot. I haven't had any pain or cramps but I have had a lot of braxton hicks. I have taken it very easy. I did pick up Scarlett twice today but tried not to. We had to run to Wal-mart to grab a few groceries and were only there for about 30 minutes. I got soo tired while we were there and almost a woozy feeling. So I'm also going to let my dr. know about that, just to be on the safe side.

Please keep Baby Ian and I in your thoughts and prayers. I am sure everything is ok but a pregnant mommy always has her worries.

28 weeks

I am week late on updating! Last week on Wednesday I had my "28" week appointment. I was actually 27 weeks 5 days. I also had my extra ultra sound to get the measurements we missed. Everything went well. Baby Ian is measuring 2 lbs 12 oz (give or take 7oz). They said he is measuring about 1 week ahead but that is completely normal at this stage. His heartbeat was a strong 151. He was pretty laid back during the ultrasound and for the appointment also. Just not as upbeat for everyone. He gets most of his kicking and punching in during the evening and night time, go figure! I have my next appointment in 1 week. That's right. I'm going every 2 weeks now. I really can't believe it.

3 year Anniversary!

So today was Rassie and I's 3 year wedding anniversary. Since money is tight we didn't do too much. We each gave each other a card. Both were beautiful and I will get picks up & they writing on them soon. We went to visit my mom and get Scarlett out of the house and then we went to our favorite little off the wall Mexican restaurant. We ended up with gifts because we upgraded our phones (with a signing of a new contract of course) and got new ones. I really like it so far but have some more to figure out on it. It's the LG Vu. And that has been about it for our day. Now we're going to snuggle up and watch some TV together.

My Mother's Day

Today was a wonderful day. It was my second Mother's Day and it could not have been better. I got to sleep in until 9. Rassie was home and got up with Scarlett, after I had to shake him awake. Go figure.. ha ha.. That's ok. At 9, Rassie and Scarlett came in the bedroom to wake me up and Scarlett had my Mother's Day card in her hand. It was a very beautiful and thoughtful card that Rassie had picked out.

I got up and just lazed around the houes for a while. My pot of beans I had put on the night before were ready and smelled really yummy. We took Scarlett in the backyard to play for a while, while Rassie got the smoker going. It was about 11:30 and since we had company coming for lunch I decided to put Scarlett down for an early nap. She was pretty much out like a light.

Rassie got the sausage and deer steaks on the grill. Oh, how the smoker smelled so good. I was starving. My little brother and his girlfriend were the firsts to arrive and then my mom and dad and then my aunt, uncle and cousin. All the food was done and we gathered round to say the blessing and chow down. It was some really good BBQ food and I enjoyed every minute of it, along with my little guy wriggling around in my tummy.

After lunch we all headed to the living room where we gave my aunt a mother's day video of her and her boys. I think she really enjoyed it. My mom got a boquet of flowers from me. She loved them. Then everyone sat out on the front porch while the kids played football and Scarlett went hunting for acorns and rolly polly's.

Everyone had a good time. By the end of the day Scarlett was worn out and went to bed early. Rassie had to head back to San Antonio and left around 7. I was sad to see him go but I know he will be home on Thursday when class was over. I was just happy to have him home this weekend and get to spend some family time together.

So that was my Mother's Day in a nutshell. Not to interesting but I loved every minute of it and could not have asked for a better day.

Love Letter to my Wife

As we all know today was Mother's Day. Rassie picked out a beautiful card for me and I wanted to share it with all of you.

A Little Love Letter To My Wife

It takes a very special woman

to be a wonderful wife

and mother ~

someone who understands

your secrects,

your hopes, and dreams ~

someone who wants only the best for her family

and spends a lot of time and energy

trying to provide just that...

It takes the kind of sharing

that makes life colorful and exciting

or quiet and contented,

and the kind of caring

that makes you feel warm and secure,

because you know she is there

with love you can count on ~

always.

I Love You

Happy Mother's Day

(With a special note from Rassie himself)

I hope me being home is enough for you this Mother's Day. I love you and as soon as I saw this card, I knew it was for you. Thank you for always being there. Love Rassie & Scarlett.

I'm hoping for another great weekend. Today hasn't been too bad. Aside from the fact I have a 4 year old who doesn't listen to a word I say and lies like no other. Why can't I learn to "just say no.. to babysitting". Ha Ha!
I did manage to get some laundry finished up this morning. The living room has been vacuumed and the dining and bedrooms I still have to get to. Yesterday I managed to scrub down Scar's bathroom and today I need to scrub down mine. Don't know if I will get to that yet. I do know I need to get to my sweeping and mopping. That alone would make the house look so much better. I have a few dishes that need to be washed up, but not even a sink full so that shouldn't be too hard. The only thing left after that is to get mine and Scar's bedroom cleaned up. Now that's the hard part! If I could just put my mind to it and stay off this dang computer I could probably get it done in no time.
Right now, Scar just went down for her nap. My nephew is playing in the floor and I'm about to feed him lunch and wash up the dishes. Then its time for the floors and hopefully I'll get to take him home.
Later, I'm heading down to mom's. I need to show Chris his mom's Mother's Day video and see if I need to make any changes to it before burning. I think it turned out great and should be just fine. I would have like a family photo to put at the end but other than that I wouldn't change a thing.
After, that I'm headed to Tyler's baseball game. Go Mudcats!!! I really hope they win tonight. Tyler has been doing such a great job at every game. I am so proud of him. Now if the rest of the team could pull together for a win it would really make his day.
Finally, when I get home tonight, Rassie should be pulling in. He gets the weekend off and is coming home to spend it with Scarlett and I. Tomorrow he's going to help me get the yard mowed! It's a jungle out there. I am so happy he will be home for Mother's Day.
Speaking of Mother's Day, we're having a little bbq get together with my mom and a few of my aunts. My sister said she can't make it. Oh well. I can't wait. I know we'll have a good time. And the best part will be spending it with my family!

Wonderful Weekend

Obviously today is Tuesday and not the weekend, but that's ok. I had a wonderful weekend. I enjoyed my Saturday here at home and that night Rassie came home from school! It was only for 1 day but it was well worth it. I have been missing him like crazy. We have managed to see each other at least once a week since he's been gone so it hasn't been too bad.
Sunday was his day to go back to San Antonio. Scarlett and I went with him! Hip-Hip-Hooray! We stopped in Austin for dinner and finally made it to the hotel. We settled everything in the room and made a quick trip to Wal-Mart so Scarlett would have some milk, juice and breakfast for the next day. It was already dark by the time we got back to the hotel so we didn't hit the pool. Instead we all 3 snuggled up on the bed and watched some tunes on the TV. We ended up having to turn it off because Scarlett would not fall asleep.
Monday morning came bright and early and Rassie was off to class. By about 8 am Scarlett was up and ready to go. I gave her breakfast, took a shower/bath, she played, watched Sesame Street and then we went for a walk outside. We had thought about hitting the pool but its was very cloudy, 70 and a light north wind so we decided it was a no go.
Around 11:45 we headed over to meet Rassie for lunch. We picked him up and headed to Bill Miller BBQ. It was really good. At least I thought. I had the chopped beef sandwich and french fries along with a sweet tea. Scarlett shared with me and her daddy. She had green beans and rice off of his plate.
After we dropped Rassie off at class we went and walked around walmart for about an hour. All I needed was chapstick but it at least got us out of the hotel room. When we made it back to the room Scarlett seemed tired so I put her down for a nap. She slept until 5 when daddy came through the door.
We decided to have a nice dinner out. Anna recommended a nice little mexican restaurant called LaFogata. I have to say it was really good. We had chicken fajita quesadillas and cheese enchilladas. I really loved the chicken. It had an awesome flavor. Oh, and I swear the beans had alcohol in them. I could taste a hint of whiskey. But that's ok because it was cooked and so the alcohol was cooked out.
Back at the hotel we all took a swim. It finally heated up and the wind had stopped. Scarlett LOVED the water. She is for sure my water baby and takes after her momma when it comes to being in the water. Then we had our baths and snuggled in bed again to CSI Miami. Scarlett fell asleep and I cleaned up the room and got our things ready to come home today.
We hung around until 11am which was check out time and then headed to a few shops. After window shopping for an hour we picked up Rassie for lunch. This time we just had Taco Bell/ KFC. They were super packed so it took Rassie's whole lunch break. I dropped him off, swang by Wal-Mart to pick him up a few groceries, dropped him in the ice chest of his car and Scarlett and I headed home.
Luckily we had a quick trip home. The traffic in Austin was nice and smooth. We made it home around 3:30. Scarlett and I both were happy to be home. She played all afternoon/evening. She was nice and happy. Had a few tantrums when she didn't get her way but nothing out of the ordinary. She was so exhausted I just put her in bed at 7:30 instead of 8. She's quiet and out like a light. I hope she has sweet dreams.
My trip may sound a little boring but it really was a wonderful weekend. The best part was getting to spend time with the 2 people that I love the most, Rassie & Scarlett.

Excited!

Rassie has been away at School for almost 2 weeks now! I did get to see him this past Monday. He had half a day off and so Scarlett and I met him in Austin for a late lunch. We spent most of the afternoon window shopping at Target and the Mall. We went to Old Navy but were not impressed with the one we found.

He gets tomorrow, Sunday, off! And I am so excited about him actually coming home tonight to spend it with us! I was going to grill steaks for us but I haven't gone grocery shopping so I am going to grill pork chops instead, weather permitting! Because it might be raininig and in that case I will not be going outside to grill.

I am sooooooo Happy to see him!!!!!

26 weeks and Growing

I had my 25/26 week prenatal appointment on this past Wednesday. Today I hit 26 weeks even. I am so excited. I can not believe that I only have 14 weeks left out of a 40 week pregnancy. Time is flying by so fast. Scarlett keeps me busy and I am sure that is why. When I was pregnant with her it seemed like time drug on and she was never going to be here.

Ok, so back to the appointment. Everything checked out well. Ian's heartbeat clocked in at 160 and then he started kicking and punching at the doppler. At least we were able to get a heartrate this time. Last time he wiggle so much Dr. F had to break out the ultrasound machine!

Great news on the 1 hour glucose test. I PASSED. I am super happy about this. I did not want to go back and take a 3 hour test and get stuck 4 times. That's right 4 times in 3 hours. I do however have a low iron count of 10. It was to be expected and I am once again on an iron supplement this pregnancy. No biggie!

The bad news. It's not so bad. I have GERD brought on by pregnancy. GERD is gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is similar to acid reflux and can have all sorts of symptoms from heart burn to sore throats, to difficulty swallowing, to bad breath. My one and only symptom was a burning sensation in my throat. It was not everyday but it still bothered me. Even woke me out of my sleep the other night. The way my nurse practioner described goes like this 'the esophagus at the top of the stomach loosens and does not do its job properly, therefore the acid from my stomach backs up into my throat and causes a burning sensation.' She immediately wrote me a prescription for ranitidine (or zantac) that I am to take twice a day. It's only been 2 days but so far no burning.

While I was there I decided to ask if it was ok to push mow the yard while pregnant. She was all for it. She did recommend being extremely careful of my posture when I mow so that I don't bring on added back pain. (too late!) I know better for next time. Also, to try and only push mow when the weather is nice so that I do not overheat. And just like any other time, drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. From here on out I will probably let Rassie mow the grass (if he's home).

Little Ian is still moving and wiggling. I first thought he was going to be more active than Scarlett was but now I am not so sure. Scarlett liked to do lots of flips and turns while she kicked and moved about. Ian is more of a kicker and a puncher. I feel him mostly at night. Probably because I stay active during the day, running around the house with Scarlett. As time goes on I am sure he will start doing more flips but for now he's mellowness is just fine.

So that's my update for now.
